The fare is only the starting point. Include flights or driving, parking, hotel buffer, terminal transfer, onboard choices, shore transport, tenders or water activities, meals ashore and contingency.

Southern California departures can look inexpensive for West Coast travelers, but San Pedro, Long Beach and San Diego create different airport, parking, hotel and rideshare assumptions.

Shore-day spending differs by route

Baja can stay lower cost if the traveler is happy with Ensenada or Catalina locally. Mexican Riviera trips often invite more beach, boat, food or regional tours. Sea of Cortez and tender-heavy California days may require structured logistics if the anchor experience is not walkable.

Budget the days that define the route first, then keep simpler ports flexible. Do not fill every call with a paid product just because the itinerary has many stops.
