Naples Cruise Port Guide

Naples offers three strong but very different port days: the city, Pompeii or an island-and-water plan. Choose one before buying tickets.

Three day shapes, not one checklist

Naples itself is the most resilient choice because it removes a long regional transfer. Pompeii adds rail or road transport and an extensive outdoor archaeological site. Capri adds outbound and return ferry schedules, island movement and marine conditions.

The Amalfi Coast is another transport-heavy alternative, not a small addition to Pompeii or Capri. Choose the anchor that matters most and leave the others for another call or a pre-cruise stay.

Timed entry and weather change the choice

Pompeii uses official admission rules and may apply visitor controls; buy only after the call window and transport plan are clear. The site is large, exposed and demanding in heat, so footwear, water and a realistic route matter.

Capri is appealing when the ferry pattern and weather cooperate. A comfortable outbound crossing does not remove the need to protect the return sailing and the walk from the ferry area back to the ship.

Keep the final link simple

If leaving Naples, identify the exact station, pier or pickup point in both directions. Work backward from all-aboard time and avoid making the last practical return your only viable option.

Re-verify for the exact call

  • Exact berth, terminal or shuttle instructions for the sailing
  • Ship time and published all-aboard time
  • Timed-entry requirements for the chosen attraction
  • Written pickup point and the complete return transport chain
  • A personal return margin beyond the advertised journey time
