Map the complete journey
Record embarkation, every port call, disembarkation and all flight connections. Mediterranean itineraries may combine Schengen and non-Schengen countries, so one country’s rule is not the whole trip.
Check rules for the traveler, not the website audience
Nationality, residence status, passport type and trip purpose can change the answer. This guide deliberately does not issue a blanket visa statement.
Distinguish border systems
The EU Entry/Exit System and ETIAS serve different purposes. Official EU guidance says ETIAS is scheduled to start later in 2026, but no application should be made until the official system opens.

Rules and implementation dates can change between booking and travel. Save official confirmations, make document copies and follow the cruise line’s final boarding instructions.
