Caribbean Cruise Packing Guide

Build a light system for heat and water, then add rain, indoor comfort and the exact activities you booked.

The five-part Caribbean system

Core packing layers and their purpose
LayerPurpose
Breathable baseHeat, humidity and ordinary port walking
Light rain shellShort tropical rain and wind on boats
Secure footwearWet decks, uneven streets and excursion requirements
Sun protectionHat, sunglasses, clothing coverage and destination-appropriate sunscreen
Indoor layerCool dining rooms, theaters and buses

Water-day kit

Pack swimwear, a small dry pouch, reusable water bottle and any required corrective eyewear. Do not assume the tour provides towels, lockers, fins or flotation; read the current inclusion list.

Port-day essentials

Carry the ship card, required identification, offline meeting instructions, operator contact, all-aboard time, payment backup and only the medication needed for the day. Keep valuables limited and protected from water.

What stays in the embarkation carry-on

Travel documents, essential medication, electronics, valuables, a change of clothes and anything needed before checked luggage reaches the cabin should remain with you.

Pack to the excursion, not to a generic list

A reef boat, archaeological site, city walk and zipline can impose different shoe, mobility, age and clothing requirements. Read the actual operator instructions before closing the bag.

Do not overpack the “just in case” category

One compact rain layer and an indoor layer solve more problems than several heavy outfits. Check the cruise line’s current prohibited-items policy before packing steamers, irons, extension cords or unusual electrical devices.
